Scholarships

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Class of 1963 Scholarship Fund.  Your gift made it possible for our class to give a $1,000 scholarship to SLP 2019 graduating senior

Braulio Vela-Garay.  His thank you note speaks volumes…

Dear Class of 1963,

Getting enough money to pay for college is hard.  This means a lot to me that you guys could help me out.  The fact that you were willing to give to someone you don’t know means a lot.  I’d like all of you to know I will be attending Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park to study either mechanics or auto body.  One day I hope to open my own shop.

Sincerely,

Braulio Vela-Garay

Fun facts about Braulio:

  • He is grateful for the people, classmates and teachers who helped him figure out what he wants to do after high school.
  • He wants to open his own shop with his childhood friend because it’s been their dream for a long time.
  • He is a very hard worker and a hands on type of guy who says he will not give up when he is dedicated to something.
  • Fun facts about St. Louis Park High School scholarships:
  • Scholarships are locally managed by the St. Louis Park Dollars for Scholars Board.
  • In 2019 the board awarded nearly $90,000 to 108 graduating seniors through 71 separate scholarships.
  • The SLP Dollars for Scholars Board is particularly grateful for the Class of 1963 Scholarship because it is one of the few that can be given to students on a two year college or vocational school path.
  • Our Class of 1963 is one of six classes sponsoring scholarships (1957, 1961, 1963, 1968, 1969 and 1970).

We have sufficient resources to award one more $1,000 scholarship next year to a member of the Class of 2020.

If you would like to contribute to the Class of 1963 Scholarship Fund, send your check payable to St. Louis Park Class of '63 to Marilyn Vinokour, 3078 St. Albans Hollow Circle, Minnetonka, MN 55305.

Thank you!
